Great Chart Memorial
The village of Great Chart is now on the outskirts of the ever expanding Ashford. Yet to go to Great Chart is like entering one of the old villages so typical of Kent. Around 1924 the memorial to its WW1 dead was openned, paid for by a local appeal. On it is listed the men who gave their lives including those into the early 20's still serving. The names are engraved with date of death and country. It was an easy memorial to research and the information entered on the memorial by and large is accurate. The men listed represent a whole cross section of the community which is typical.
